Another late wash session well into the midnight hours...sigh. This is exactly why I try my best to have my wash days on Friday evenings/nights rather than Saturdays or else I would be a wreck for Sunday morning services at Church. Here is how things went down:
- Pre-Poo: Giovanni Smooth as Silk Deeper Moisture Conditioner (an old love), 45 minutes under Hot Head Heat Cap
- Shampoo: SheaMoisture Jamaican Black Castor Oil Shampoo (diluted), rinsed and t-shirt dried
- Tea Rinse: 1 bag of green tea + 1 tbsp of marshmallow root + 2 cups of water, steeped for 8 hours; rinsed 5 times over scalp
- Deep Condition: SheaMoiature African Black Soap Purification Masque (finally finding it at a beauty store because clearly they have discontinued it at Walgreens), 30 minutes under Hot Head Heat Cap
- Detangled hair before rinsing in shower to save some time and water
- Final Rinse: Rinsed DC out, section by section, followed by an aloe vera juice rinse and oil rinse to seal in moisture. Did a final rinse to get rid of excess oil
- Moisturize: SheaMoisture Curl Enhancing Smoothie served as the cream portion of the LOC method.
- Style: Twisted hair into medium to small twists, used homemade flaxseed gel for hold
- Pinned twists up in an updo for the week
I love how moisturized my hair and scalp felt after this wash day. It makes it worth the red eyes. At least during styling, I have a nice chunk of time to listen to some Bible scriptures via YouVersion. #spirituallywinning
I unintentionally did my twists smaller this time around particularly in the back. Once I noticed what I was doing, I switched back to medium sized twists for the upper half of my head. This most likely explains why it took me almost 3 hours to twist my hair. smh
Whenever I pin up hair, I never have an idea how I will do my style. It is almost 100% freestyle. I saw a cute style done by
Adventures of a Nappy Chica, but I had way too many twists to achieve this style unless I wanted to use over 40 bobby pins...lol. Maybe next time I will try that style. This was what I came up with instead:
Nope, no bangs this time, but it is nice to show my entire frame of my face. As usual, I will lightly spritz my hair with my homemade spray nightly to maintain this style until Friday.
